Contact us

Green Dot LA is a group of local citizens committed to reducing power-based interpersonal violence in the Twin Cities of Lewiston and Auburn. We do not have a 'brick and mortar' office, but we are available to provide information and services in a number of ways.

Our website (where you are right now!) is a place where we can post general information about the Green Dot approach and what we are doing. It also is a way to reach out to us and ask about scheduling a presentation or workshop for your organization, group, or business.

Presentations and workshops

We offer a range of services, depending on the interest and need expressed by a requesting group or organization. These range from short 15-minute and 30-minute overviews, one hour presentations, and 2-hour workshops.

Because bystander intervention training is most effective when it is specifically designed for the individuals involved and the context in which they live and work, we have an 'intake process' to make sure our presentations are tailored to our audiences.

How can I contribute?

You can learn more about Green Dot and its parent organization Alteristic online. You can also visit our Facebook page

You can engage more by inquiring about a Green Dot LA presentation or workshop for your organization or business.

The Green Dot approach

The Green Dot approach is a research-based and evidence-supported program that trains individuals within a community to recognize the signs of power-based interpersonal threats and violence and equips individuals with tools that allow them to respond in ways that prevent or safely mitigates these behaviors.

Our mission

Over the last several years there have been a number of incidents of anti-immigrant harassment, bullying, and threatened violence. This is a problem that affects all of us, not just the 8,000 residents from countries across East and West Africa. Harassment and violence are also a problem for the LGBTQ community, women, and other cultural and religious groups.

In response to several incidents of anti-immigrant harassment in 2016, a non-partisan group of Lewiston and Auburn residents began meeting to discuss ways to support their community at a time of increased public hostility. This group, the Community of Kindness, partnered with  YWCA Central Maine to engage Green Dot, an internationally respected leader in bystander training.

We are deeply indebted to our many and generous donors, both individuals and organizations:

Who we are

Green Dot Lewiston-Auburn is an initiative by a group of local volunteers who are committed to making our Twin Cities community a better and safer place by teaching strategies for safe and effective responses to hurtful and hateful words and behaviors. In this way, we aim to reduce the occurrence and impact of harassment, assault, domestic and partner violence, and other forms of power-based interpersonal threats and violence.
