Museum LA program on the Immigrant Expeience

As local and national debates on immigration continue, a group of community partners in Lewiston and Auburn are working on a program that encourages conversation, celebration, and understanding. Museum L-A applied and was selected as one of 32 sites across 24 states to host this program series. All events will be free and open to everyone.

Becoming American is a public program that features films, discussions, and a wide variety of events across the twin cities.

Simones meetup

We had a fun meetup this morning at Simones in Lewiston. Kitsie Claxton, Susan Cooper, Margaret Craven, Cindy Elias, Peter Elias, Eileen Larlee, Silver Moore-Leamon, and Jan Phillips met for breakfast and conversation at Simones at 8:30, all wearing Green Dot t-shirts. As expected, we were asked to explain what Green Dot is and what it does. Jimmy Simones was there and it was really good to talk to him about this. He sees Simones as a 'safe place' where people feel as if they are in his kitchen and among friends.

We are planning an informal gathering for many reasons! Our hope is to get as many as possible of us together for a cup of coffee or tea before heading off with family and friends to enjoy the rest of our Saturday.
