Our mission

Over the last several years there have been a number of incidents of anti-immigrant harassment, bullying, and threatened violence. This is a problem that affects everyone, not just the 8,000 residents from countries across East and West Africa. Harassment and interpersonal violence are problems for the LGBTQ community, women, and other cultural and religious groups.

Our vision: A community of kindness, where everyone feels safe and respected.

Our mission: Green Dot LA believes that by educating our community about the prevalence and impact of hateful and hurtful words and behaviors, and by teaching community members how to recognize and safely handle these hateful and hurtful words and behaviors, we can make Maine’s second largest urban area safer, more welcoming, and increasingly tolerant for all peoples.

Our goal: to provide free events to as many members of our community as we can, where we teach and practice the safe and simple words and actions we can all use to reduce hurt and harm, as well as the many all-important proactive steps we can take to signal that interpersonal violence is not acceptable here.

No one can do everything, but everyone must do something.
